Some people enjoy drinking alcohol or taking drugs, and that is their personal choice. It has been observed in the past that intoxication as a result of these substances can have a detrimental effect on the way you play your character.
Alcohol and other intoxicants stimulate and then disrupt the NMDA receptors in the human brain. The upshot of this is of course an initial sensation of euphoria. The later negative effects though are numerous and can include reduced inhibitions, a tendency to speak before thinking, aggression, pleasure seeking, short term memory loss, lack of judgment & tact, and an inability for the brain to properly process reality.
It should be obvious to anyone the results these effects can have on role-play. While role-playing, we need to be aware of the proverbial "Line" to ensure the constructed reality of the game does not affect our own personal reality and vice versa. Intoxication quickly makes the Line blur, and you will find yourself dancing on both sides, to the detriment of everyone you are playing with.
The guild requests that players refrain from logging into their Cat characters while under the influence of intoxicants. We can not make this a rule, as it is always the choice of the individual, but we can make you aware that you are always responsible for your actions in the game, regardless of your state of mind.
If you say or do something that is not in-character for your character and get in to trouble, if you say something to another player that offends them, simply saying "I was drunk" will not be an excuse.
Too tired to role-play? While being over tired is not drug related, it still affects how you play. So the excuse, 'I was too tired to know what I was doing' will not fly either. You were awake enough to make the choice to log in.
In pain for whatever reason? Why are you online. Being in pain is not drug related either, but it can impact how you role-play. It can dim your otherwise chipper personality, grinding it down to a jagged edge. This can influence not only your character, but other players as well. Being in OOC pain is not an excuse for OOC verbal abuse or cranky characters. If you are on your Cat character at such times, you will be held accountable for your actions during this time.
So please, have respect for yourself and your fellow members and play the game without any impairments. It'll be more fun for everyone in the long run.
Bottom line - YOU are responsible for you, and your characters actions at ALL times.
