As a role-player, ending up in a duel in game is something i dread, even loathe.
It happened, purely by accident, one night while role-playing with someone, and this is what we both learned.
It is a pain in the hiney to get OUT of a duel, you have to run really, really far away from the dueling flag. ESO has a ridiculous radius for duels... so... pain.
You cannot log out, while in a duel. You have to hard close the game.
You cannot port to another place.
Now, this one is important, you cannot see anything typed in /say, nor can you see emotes from the person you are stuck in a duel with. You CAN see what is typed if you type in group chat, and i can only assume guild chat.
Supposedly, you have to switch channel/or leave the huge area of the duel flag to get out of these stupid things, or, of course, just get defeated.
i encourage all those who feel the same way about duels as i do, to take heart. You can find a setting to auto-decline duel requests through the Social panel found in the Options menu. i found that out, just as i was writing this post. Guess where i am going next time i'm in game.
