The clock had just slipped past one in the morning when Shari managed to ease in past the gate to Ian's property. Took nearly all her might to close it behind her. It had been a long day of gathering materials, and she was looking forward to going to bed.
Just as her small hand fell from the gate, she froze, noting an odd blue light coming from the side, behind her. It certainly wasn't from the halved, twin moons above. This light was new. Her large ears twitched as she closed her eyes slowly. There was a very faint humming sound as well, that ebbed its way into her heart, making it beat faster, as if she were about to meet a friend she hadn't seen in a very long time the moment she turned.
Swallowing, and steeling her shoulders, she peeked through some strands of deep maroon hair, over her shoulder. A sharp gust of wind from the mountains, stole her startled breath, sweeping it up into the trembling leaves of the nearby trees, that rattled and danced together, making it sound like rain falling.
"What is that?..." she breathed softly, her body fully turning now toward a new, very large structure to the right of the property.
Like a tentative child, she drew closer to the circular object that sat upon at the top of stone stairs all around. "A pool?.... No, two pools?"
As she drew nearer, she clutched a hand between her collar bones, lunar white eyes sparkling. Why was her heart beating so hard?
It was one large pool, with another about a quarter of the size sitting against it, in the middle of many smaller circular pools all around. Each was filled with shimmering, glowing blue water, that almost seemed to breathe, and exhale stars. The water did not appear deep, perhaps reaching to ones ankle, the water in each pool moving as if each were its own little, self-contained stream.
Chewing on her lower lip, her bare toes crunched up as she stared in awe. It somehow seemed so very familiar. The structure appeared to be made of grey stone, with intricate lunar carvings along the outside of the two larger pools, as well as inside them. Perhaps it was some sort of Khajiit artifact that he had found; and yet, she continued to feel a strange pull.
Sucking in her lips, she inhaled deeply, gathering handfuls of her robe in either hand, and pointed a foot to step into the largest of the wells. The moment her foot stepped down, she staggered a bit to the side, hands gripping at the edge of the pool to steady herself as wave after wave of memory crashed down upon her.
"My child, I have never abandoned you. I have always been there, to guide your steps and light your way. Every trial and triumph has not been in vain. Each has been a lesson. Though your appearance has changed, your soul has not, and will forever remain part of me. Never forget that." The female voice echoed, and resonated within her very being as the memories played.
On her hands and knees in the water, Shari opened her eyes, tears cascading down her cheeks, painting diamond trails in their wake. Upturning her face, she stared up into the sky, "i remember who i am." her lower lip trembled as she cried, "Praise Elune."
